Monday July 7, 2026 - Old RHONY in the closet and July 4th beach scenes

After a weekend socializing and gathering photos I felt it was time to buckle down.

Part I. Drawing practice

Doing a plein air workshop reminded me of how hard it is. I need to practice drawing and painting from life, to get better. I have a focus problem. I want to draw it all, really fast, and let my brush make movements vs recording what I see. So I’m trying to start a life drawing practice at the outset of my painting days.

“Watching Real Housewives of New York, season 5, in our closet room”, watercolor and ink on sketchbook paper, 11 × 14.

It’s okay to watch TV in the morning OKOYYYY (Ramona voice)

Version two, just linework, not worried about correct angles.

Part II. Beach scenes from Misquamicut

It’s like a sitcom: my mom lives a mile away from her childhood next-door neighbor/best friend who is also best friends with her college roommate/best friend. The co-best friends, my fairy godmothers/aunties live in a beach house, it’s perfect. Every time I go I take photos til my phone dies.

I love this house

The sky was the star

I wanted the house cool and the umbrellas hot

I need the umbrellas to come forward more

Not sure what to do about the ramp or the house colors it needs to sit now

The weather was kind of weird all day, epic clouds. Around sunset they really came in and it was so pretty. Then we ran home before the rain.
